Muscle weaknes in facial muscles can cause indistinct speech and problems with articulation. Weakness in facial muscle may also lead to lack of facial expression, which may hamper communication and social relationships.

Swallowing problems can be another consequence of muscle weakness of the mouth, palate and jaw. This may lead to choking.

A speech and swallowing therapist can be helpful in case of speech or swallowing problems.
